ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 14. The volume of cargo transportation by all modes of transport in Kazakhstan amounted to 980.7 million tons from January through December 2023, Trend reports.
In reference to data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics, this is 4.5 percent more than the same period in 2022.
At the same time, cargo turnover for the preceding period totaled 501.3 billion ton-kilometers, which is 3.1 percent more than from January through December 2022.
In addition, regionally, from January through December 2023, an increase in cargo turnover was noted in the cities of: Shymkent (27.1 percent), Almaty (24.7 percent), Astana (15 percent) and Pavlodar (26.4 percent), North Kazakhstan (12.6 percent), West Kazakhstan (12 percent), Kyzylorda (8.7 percent), Karaganda (6.3 percent), Aktobe (4.4 percent) and Kostanay (1.8 percent) regions.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has formed a pool of investment projects worth more than $31 billion in the fields of railway and maritime transport, aviation, and roads.
Moreover, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transport in Kazakhstan.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and are in operation in Kazakhstan, including 5 railways and 8 roads.
Furthermore, about $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past decade.
