ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 14. The volume of goods transported by road in Kazakhstan decreased by 0.7 percent in January 2024 compared to the same month last year, Trend reports.
The country's Bureau of National Statistics' data shows that freight turnover in road transport decreased by 11.5 percent.
At the same time, passenger transportation and passenger turnover by road increased by 7 and 4.7 percent, respectively.
Furthermore, the volume of goods transported by road increased by 10.6 percent in January 2024 compared to the same period last year. Freight turnover in road transport increased by 1.7 percent.
Moreover, passenger transportation and passenger turnover also increased by 8.3 percent and 4.2 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan has formed a pool of investment projects worth more than $31 billion in the fields of railway and maritime transport, aviation, and roads.
In addition, in the next five years, at least 40 billion euros will be needed to implement major infrastructure projects in the field of transport in Kazakhstan.
To date, 13 international transport corridors have been formed and operate in Kazakhstan: 5 railways and 8 roads.
About $30 billion has been invested in the transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan over the past 10 years.
