ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 28. Kazakhstan and China plan to create a "green corridor" for the transportation of Kazakh agricultural products to China, Trend reports.

This topic was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Chairman of the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China, Erkin Tuniyaz.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed work on creating a "green corridor" for the accelerated passage of domestic agricultural products by vehicles through checkpoints and the introduction of uniform means of identification in the form of "green seals."

In this regard, Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Yerbol Taszhurekov noted that the Kazakh side fully supports the use of these mechanisms.

"Instructions have been received from China to unify rules to facilitate border control. The issue is at the stage of coordination with interested government agencies," he said.

In addition, issues of cooperation in the field of agriculture and the introduction of water-saving technologies that increase productivity in the industry from 30 to 70 percent were discussed at the meeting.

As Zhumangarin noted, in Kazakhstan, it is planned to cover up to 50 percent of irrigated lands with water-saving technologies. So far, this figure is 16 percent. To achieve these goals, a number of comprehensive measures are being taken.

In turn, First Vice Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan Bolat Bekniyaz noted that Kazakhstan has all the program documents to support and stimulate the implementation of water-saving in agriculture and industry.

"We are ready to work with business structures. Implementation of projects has begun in the Almaty, Turkestan, and Karaganda regions," he said.

The Chinese side proposed to consider the technologies of the Tianye company, which is a provider of comprehensive services in the field of water conservation. The corporation is one of the 500 largest companies in China. Its representatives are ready to share their experience.

Notably, cooperation in the field of agriculture is an important component of Kazakh-Chinese relations. In 2023, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and China increased 1.7 times and exceeded $1.3 billion (exports - $1.01 billion (an increase of 184 percent), imports - $290.2 million (an increase of 125 percent).
