ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 28. The volume of direct investments from the Netherlands into the economy of Kazakhstan exceeded $120 billion over 30 years of cooperation, said President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, Trend reports.
"I would like to note the dynamic development of our bilateral cooperation. The Netherlands is the largest investor in our economy. The volume of direct investment exceeded $120 billion. Our countries are implementing large-scale joint projects," he said.
Tokayev noted the importance of the visit of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands in terms of giving additional impetus to the development of trade and economic relations between Astana and Amsterdam.
The parties also discussed ways to strengthen trade, economic, energy, and investment cooperation, as well as contacts in the fields of transport, innovation, nuclear energy, agriculture, healthcare, climate, and water resources management.
Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands amounted to $4.449 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover decreased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($5.785 billion).
At the same time, in the structure of trade turnover, exports to the Netherlands for the above period amounted to $4.057 billion, which is 26 percent less than from January through December 2022 ($5.488 billion).
In addition, imports from the Netherlands from January through December 2023 increased by 32 percent and amounted to $391.9 million. In 2022, imports amounted to $296.8 million.
