Kazakh Senate adopted amendments to legislation on mass media

(KAZINFORM) - Today Senate of Kazakhstans Parliament has adopted a draft law on amendments to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on mass media at the plenary meeting.

Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information Yermukhamet Yertysbayev who introduced this document at the sitting noted that the amendments were not outside the framework of applicable legislation and not directed to strengthening of regulating role of the state or restriction of freedom of speech, reports Trend.

The draft law provides with regulation of organizational technical questions connected with mass media, its registration, promotion of responsibility for abuse of legislation on mass media, definition and concretization of order and mechanism of registration or re-registration. Besides, registration of mass media will be liable for taxes.

After discussion the Senate deputies voted for adoption of the draft law in the first reading.
