Kazakhstan's entry into WTO depends on talks with world superpowers

(Kazinform) - Cabinet debated Kazakhstans accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) at the sitting chaired by Premier of Kazakhstan Daniyal Akhmetov, PMs press service informs.

In the course of the session those present debated issues connected with foreign trade legislation and law-enforcement practice of Kazakhstan and their conformity to WTOs standards, reports Trend.

As is known, working group on Kazakhstans entry into the WTO includes 39 member countries of the organization. Currently Kazakhstan completed bilateral talks with 14 of them. According to experts, negotiations with the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil and EU are a top priority for Kazakhstan in this respect.

WTO member states put forward demands related to application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, control procedures of meat, meat foods and genetically modified products import, intellectual property protection, rendering of financial, telecommunication services, etc.

Daniyal Akhmetov stressed the key problem was access of foreign services to Kazakhstan market. As for migration issues it should be considered in terms of the countrys security. PM charged all departments concerned to prepare their proposals for the next sitting.

Following the results of the session Premier of Kazakhstan assigned all branch ministries and departments to analyze consequences of demands, that will be adopted, and on this basis to coordinate Kazakhstans position in negotiation process.
