UN High Commissioner for Human Rights visits Kazakhstan

( Kazakhstan Today ) - United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour are willing to visit the republic in the frames of her Central Asian countries trip, informed on briefing official RK MFA Representative Erzhan Ashykbayev.

Erzhan Ashykbayev specified that Arbour's visit will take place on April 30.

"The aim of her first visit to Kazakhstan is to hold the meetings with country's leadership to exchange opinions on the human rights situation in the country and the regions, and to discuss the perspectives of Kazakhstan and UN High Commissioner Directorate for Human Rights cooperation", - RK MFA rep underlined.

The High Commissioner has the UN Secretary General vice-chair rank, coordinates UN Human Rights activities, but also observes the work of the Human Rights Council.
