Kyrgyz FM to discuss investment, security during Moscow visit

( RIA Novosti ) - The Kyrgyz foreign minister is in Moscow to discuss large-scale Russian investment in the republic's economy and ways of expanding bilateral cooperation, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

Ednan Karabayev, on his first official visit, September 20-21, is expected to meet with Russian officials to discuss political and diplomatic aspects of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation, Russian investment in the Kyrgyz economy, the repayment of Kyrgyzstan's debt to Russia, and the situation of Kyrgyz labor immigrants in Russia, the ministry said in a press release.

The minister will have talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, focusing on "ways of expanding bilateral cooperation, including its trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian components."

The ministry said priority will be given to ensuring stability and security in Central Asia, the fight against international terror, drug trafficking and other threats and challenges.
