The number of accidents in mining and metallurgical enterprises of Kyrgyzstan is growing year after year, according to the data, distributed by the Central Committee of the mining and metallurgical trade union (CC MMTU), news agency "24.kg" reported.

The CC MMTU technical labor inspection noted unsatisfactory condition of labor protection and safety measures in many mining enterprises. The numbers, given in the report, do not give full picture of industrial traumatism, since the document considers only the data of enterprises that have trade union organizations.

Thus, over the last five years the technical inspection investigated 111 accidents, having inspected 34 enterprises and revealed 525 violations.

The number of industrial accidents from 2005 to 2009 increased by more than 5 times: from 7 to 37 cases, out of which 4 ended up with fatal case. The number of injured people also increased. In 2005 - 8 persons, in 2009 - 46 persons.

The report reads that most of accidents are latent, and professional diseases are not revealed. The overwhelming majority of accidents happen in constantly operating enterprises.

The CC MMTU inspectors mention old equipment, industrial and transport means among main reasons of accidents. Around the third of all accidents happen during road traffic accidents. Besides, workers regularly violate safety rules, employers connive at it.
