Kyrgyzstan shares plan on seedling plantation till 2030

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 6. Kyrgyzstan intends to plan 90 million seedlings till 2030, the Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, Dinara Kutmanova, said at the Yyman Nuru (Light of Faith) political party meeting, Trend reports via Kyrgyz media.

According to the minister, work is underway on implementation of Zhashyl Muras (Green Heritage) national program and the Green Kyrgyzstan program in the country.

“As a whole, it is planned to plan around 90 million seedlings till 2030. Taking into account, their survival rate, it will account for approximately 70 million of trees,” she said.

She noted, that in 2022, some 8 million seedlings have been planted. It is intended to plan 8.5 million of seedlings in 2023, 9 million – in 2024, 9.5 million – in 2025.

Meanwhile, a resident of Azerbaijani Agropark, ISFA LLC, is going to export 40,000 almond seedlings worth $100,000 to Kyrgyzstan in February 2023.

As the cornerstone of Kyrgyz economy, agriculture employs about 40 percent of the country’s labor. Kyrgyzstan mainly produces apples, apricots, cherries, sugar beets, beans, cotton, tobacco, and walnuts; among the animal husbandry: sheep, goats, cattle, and wool, as well as, chickens, horses, and pigs.
