Kyrgyzstan discloses water volume in Toktogul Dam

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. The water volume in Kyrgyzstan’s Toktogul Dam has declined to 8.0 billion cubic meters as of March 2, from 8.1 billion cubic meters on March 1, Trend reports with reference to the Electric Stations Company of Kyrgyzstan.

The daily water inflow in the dam has amounted to 151 cubic meters per second on March 2, declining from 170 cubic meters per second on March 1.

The daily discharge of water declined to 443 cubic meters per second from 576 cubic meters on March 1. Notably, this is the minimum level of discharge registered since the beginning of 2023.

Toktogul Dam, with the volume of 19.5 billion cubic meters, provides water supply to Toktogul hydropower plant (HPP).

Toktogul HPP is an irrigation and energy hydroelectric complex in the Naryn River in the southwest of the country, launched in 1975-1976. The HPP along with Kurpasai HPP form the Cascade of Toktogul HPPs.

The capacity of Toktogul HPP amounts to 1,200 megawatts, and the capacity of Kurpasai HPP -to 800 megawatts.
