BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 9. Kyrgyz Kumtor Gold Company extracted 5.6 million tons of gold ore in 2022, Trend report with reference to the company.

During the reporting period, Kumtor produced 556,375 ounces or 17,305 kg of gold from the ores (including the ores from warehouses, that were mined previously), which exceeded the estimated plan of 17,200 kg.

The company said that the volume increased due to the higher gold content in the ores, as well as due to the increasing of the amount of metal derived from an ore.

Moreover, Kumtor has transferred to the state budget of Kyrgyzstan 32.1 billion soms ($367 million), which exceeds the plan of 30.1 billion soms ($344 million).

The company’s income from the gold sales amounted to $986.5 million in 2022.

Meanwhile, according to the State Statistical Committee, Kyrgyzstan exported 290 kg of gold in 2022, which is a substantial drop from the same period of 2021 (24 tons).

Kumtor Gold Company is the largest gold deposit in Kyrgyzstan, located in the east of the country. The company produces from 15 to 17 tons of gold per year. The company employs about 4,000 people.
