BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. Kyrgyzstan imported 138 million kilowatt-hour of electricity (kWh) in January 2023, which is a decrease of 16 percent over 165 million kWh in January 2022, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the statistics, the value of the imports totaled $4 million in the first month of 2023, increasing by 32 percent compared to $3 million in January 2022.

As the committee noted, Kazakhstan was the only country that exported electricity to Kyrgyzstan in January 2023.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan imported 112 million kWh of electricity for $3 million from Turkmenistan and 52 million kWh from Kazakhstan in January 2022.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan exported 457 million kWh of electricity in 2022, which is a decrease of 17 percent over 2021 (547 million kWh).

The country imported 2.8 billion kWh of electricity in 2022, which is an increase of 62 percent compared to the indicators of 2021 (1.6 billion kWh).

Kyrgyzstan generated 13.8 billion kWh of electricity last year, which is 9 percent less than in 2021.
