BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 31. The installation of solar panels is ongoing in the Kemin district of the Chuy region of Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.

According to the directives of the deputies, an additional 246 hectares of land were allocated for the installation of solar panels. Previously, 351.08 hectares in the Kemin district had been transformed for the construction of solar panels.

Kyrgyzstan generated 8.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through July 2023. This figure is 10.4 percent higher than the electricity generated in the corresponding months of 2022 (7.9 billion kilowatt-hours).

In July 2023, the power stations of Kyrgyzstan produced 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which is 7 percent less than the output in July of the previous year (1.2 billion kilowatt-hours).

According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Kyrgyzstan has considerable and diverse renewable energy resources. The agency noted that despite the fact that Kyrgyzstan is actively using the country's hydropower resources, other renewable sources, such as solar, wind, and bioenergy, remain largely untapped.
