BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 15. China Energy Engineering Corporation has an intention to build a solar power plant in the Toru-Aygyr village of the Issyk-Kul region in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.
The intention to build a 500 MW solar power plant in Kyrgyzstan was conveyed during a meeting between the director of the National Investment Agency, Talantbek Imanov, and representatives of the Chinese company.
Currently, a feasibility study for the project is being conducted, and work is underway to prepare an investment agreement.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the bilateral cooperation and the incentives that could be provided to the company as part of this collaboration.
China Energy Engineering Corporation specializes in construction of power plants and the production of equipment for them.
The energy sector is one of the key areas of cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan. During the visit of the Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy, Taalaibek Ibraev, to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China in August 2023, 17 agreements were signed.
One of the major agreements includes a deal with the Chinese Tebian Electric Apparatus (TBEA) company for the construction of a hydropower cascade on the Sary-Djaz river in Kyrgyzstan.
