BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 15. The Manas International Airport OJSC in Kyrgyzstan has made its first aircraft purchase using its own funds, Trend reports.

A contract for the acquisition of Dash-8-400 aircraft was signed by the Chairman of the Board of Manas International Airport, Manasbek Samidinov, with De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited (DHC), a Canadian aircraft manufacturer, in Brussels.

According to the terms of the contract, the Canadian company will deliver two aircraft in May 2024. Modifications will be made to align them with Kyrgyzstan's aviation regulations and civil aviation requirements.

The Manas International Airport hopes that acquiring these aircraft will expand domestic route networks and improve aviation services for the country's population.

Passenger transportation at Manas International Airport amounted to 2.5 million passengers from January through June 2023. This figure increased by 12.6 percent compared to the same period last year. On international routes, passenger traffic reached 1.7 million people, while on domestic routes, it was 714,901 people.
