BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 24. The value of mineral extraction in Kyrgyzstan reached 31.802 billion soms ($358.4 million) from January through August 2023, which is an 8.9 percent increase year-on-year, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of the country shows that the volume also rose by 5.4 percent in the same period of 2022.
In August, the value was 4.596 billion soms ($51 million), with a 1.9 percent year-on-year increase in volume.
The production volumes increased in various sectors of mineral extraction from January through August 2023: coal and lignite extraction by 6.6 percent, crude oil and natural gas by 6.3 percent, metallic ores by 4.4 percent, and other mineral resources by 21.1 percent.
Furthermore, the total industrial production in Kyrgyzstan for the period from January through August 2023 amounted to approximately 289 billion soms ($3.2 billion).
This increase is mainly attributed to the significant growth in pharmaceutical product manufacturing, which saw a remarkable 66 percent increase.
Additionally, the country experienced notable growth in textile manufacturing, clothing and footwear production (up by 44 percent), leather and leather goods production, and chemical products (up by 40.4 percent).
