Kyrgyzstan sees surge in cash withdrawals

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 7. The number of cash withdrawals in Kyrgyzstan reached 24.9 million, as of June 30, 2023, which is a 44 percent-increase compared to the same period of 2022, Trend reports.

Data from the National Bank of the country indicates that a total value of cash withdrawals amounted to 163.1 billion soms ($1.8 billion), which is an increase of 58 percent year-on-year.

In comparison to the beginning of the 2023, the number of cash withdrawals increased by 16.4 percent during these 6 months, and the value increased by 18.7 percent.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan recorded a total of 53.6 million transactions conducted using bank cards as of June 30, 2023, which is an increase of 74 percent compared to the same date last year. The value of these transactions amounted to a total of 203 billion soms ($2.2 billion), increasing by 68.9 percent year-on-year.

Furthermore, when comparing these figures to the year's start, the number of transactions saw an increase of 35.4 percent, and the transaction volume rose by 19.3 percent.

The total number of banking payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan reached 6,102,700 cards as of June 30. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of cards increased by 41.5 percent, and compared to the beginning of 2023, it increased by 16.6 percent.
