BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 22. There were 55,322 MasterCard cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan as of December 31, 2023, accounting for 0.8 percent of all cards in the country, Trend reports.
The figure decreased by 2.4 percent compared to the 56,685 MasterCard cards in circulation at the end of 2022, as reported by the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan. The share of MasterCard cards also decreased from 1.1 percent of the total in 2022.
The share of MasterCard among other international systems in Kyrgyzstan was 1.62 percent. The highest number of MasterCard cards were in the capital city of Bishkek, with 31,920 cards, while the lowest number was in the Naryn region, with 1,450 cards.
Overall, more than 3.417 million cards in Kyrgyzstan were affiliated with international systems, making up 49.6 percent of the total number of cards in circulation.
The Elcard national payment system comprised 3.472 million cards, accounting for the other 50.4 percent of all cards in circulation.
In total, the number of bank payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan exceeded 6.89 million as of December 31, 2023.
