Passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan increases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 6. Kyrgyzstan's passenger transportation totaled 46.601 million persons in January 2024, which is 6.6 percent, or 2.9 million people, more than in the same months of 2023 (43.739 million), Trend reports.

The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan revealed that the primary volume of passenger transportation made up 46.476 million people (over 94 percent) was attributed to road transport (buses, minibuses, and taxis), which is an increase of 2.9 million passengers, or 7.1 percent compared to January 2023.

Additionally, 16,000 passengers were transported by rail, while 108,800 passengers were carried by air transport.

The growth in passenger transportation volumes was observed in country's all regions. The highest passenger boost totaling 28.450 million, was observed in Bishkek.

Overall passenger turnover across all modes of transport in January, 2024 reached 883.1 million passenger-kilometers, which is 112.4 million passenger-kilometers, or 14.6 percent higher than in January 2023.
