BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 9. Kyrgyzstan's import of citrus fruits from China reached 12,757 tons in 2023, which is an increase of 2.1 times compared to the 6,038 tons recorded in 2022, Trend reports.
According to data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the value of these imports amounted to $9.003 million in 2023, increasing by 2.5 times compared to 2022 ($3.483 million).
The bulk of Kyrgyzstan's citrus fruit imports originated from China. Additionally, imports from Türkiye amounted to 4,897 tons worth $3.075 million, from Pakistan 3,246 tons valued at $2.309 million, from Iran 1,736 tons valued at $1.111 million, and from Russia 1,135 tons valued at $976,300.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan's total citrus fruit imports in 2023 reached 25,089 tons, an increase of 69 percent compared to the 14,838 tons imported in 2022.
The total value of citrus fruit imports surpassed $17.310 million in 2023, rising by 88 percent from the previous year's figures of $9.186 million.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover reached $15.660 billion in 2023, which is a 29.9 percent increase compared to 2022 ($12.057 billion). The country's exports totaled $3.308 billion, rising by 46.8 percent year-on-year ($2.254 billion in 2022). Imports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $12.352 billion, which is 26 percent higher than $9.803 billion in 2022.
