BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, March 29. Kyrgyzstan imported 2,861 passenger cars from South Korea in January 2024, a 1.1 percent increase compared to the 2,831 cars imported in January 2023, Trend reports.
Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee reveals that the value of these imports amounted to $20.688 million, which is a 5.8 percent decrease compared to January 2023 figures ($21.874 million).
South Korea stood as the second-largest exporter of passenger cars to Kyrgyzstan in January. China emerged as the top exporter, sending 8,204 passenger cars, the US exported 820 cars valued at $16.382 million. Additionally, Japan exported 553 cars worth $14.247 million, while Germany exported 403 cars valued at $14.877 million.
Overall, Kyrgyzstan imported 13,670 passenger cars in January 2024, which is 2.1 times more than in the corresponding month of 2023 (6,248 cars). The value of imports reached $221.202 million, up 2.3 times from January 2023 ($94.930 million).
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover totaled $1.168 billion in January 2024, a 36.8 percent increase over January 2023. Exports totaled $181.3 million, representing a 46.6 percent rise year-on-year. Imports grew 35.1 percent from January 2023 to $987.5 million.
