BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 14. Kyrgyzstan's exports amounted to $510.9 million in the first quarter of 2024, increasing by 12.8 percent compared to January through March 2023 ($452.920 million), Trend reports.
The State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan has disclosed that the largest growth was reported in the exports of gold - by 2.8 times, lignite (brown coal) by 1.7 times, and live animals by 1.5 times.
Additionally, there was substantial growth in the export of fruits and nuts by 30.7 percent, transportation means and spare parts by 21.1 percent, cotton fibers by 7.2 percent, and polished glass by 1.9 percent.
Within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), there was a significant uptick in exports of footwear by 5.5 times, furniture and its components by 2 times, vegetables and root crops by 1.9 times, equipment and mechanical devices by 1.8 times, and leather products by 1.6 times.
Moreover, exports to the EAEU also saw increases in glass and glassware by 26.4 percent, plastics and plastic products by 15.9 percent, textile clothing by 14.1 percent, ground transportation means and their parts by 11.2 percent, and copper scrap and waste by 1.2 percent.
Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $3.723 billion from January through March 2024, which is 29.8 percent more than in the corresponding months of 2023 ($2.868 billion). In the structure of trade turnover, exports accounted for 13.7 percent, while imports accounted for 86.3 percent.
