BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 22. The small hydroelectric power station Kok-Art in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region has been put into operation, Trend reports.

According to the information, the station was inaugurated by President Sadyr Zhaparov.

In his speech, he noted the significant contribution of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund to the completion of this hydropower plant in a short period of time. In particular, the total investment involved in the project amounted to $7.8 million. Half of this amount came from the Uzbek-Kyrgyz fund, and the other half was invested by a private investor.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that the electricity produced would be sufficient to meet the needs of more than 10,000 residents in Suzak district. The President also recalled the planned launch of the second unit of the Toktogul HPP and the fourth unit of the Uch-Korgon HPP.

Zhaparov noted that the Isfayram-1, Beles, Avletim, Leilek, Kurak-Tektir, Adyn-Unkur, Buyga, Kozho-Kair, Kara-Zhygach, Leninpol, and Amanat hydropower plants are being prepared for commissioning. The total capacity of these hydropower plants will be about 140 megawatts.

He also mentioned the construction of HPP Kambar-Ata-1, noting that investors have already been found, and shortly, with proper and economical use of water resources, the country will start exporting electricity.

The construction of the Kok-Art small HPP, located in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region, started in August 2023. The installed capacity of the hydroelectric unit is 6.8 MW. The estimated annual electricity generation will be 25 million kilowatt-hours.
