The development of feasibility study of Kashkar-Gerat railway project will expectedly be completed in May, 2012, Vladimir Sobkalov, Tajikistan Railways company's deputy head said at a news-conference on Wednesday, Avesta.tj reported.

Sobkalov said Iranian Metro company holds research work on the area of Tajik part of the project.

Tajikistan expects the project to be effective and profitable, he said.

The country has spent more than $15.8 million on the construction of Vakhdat-Yavan part of the project, Sobkalov added.

The Kashkar-Gerat railway will connect China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan and will be 1,972 kilometers long.
