BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Tajikistan exported more than 191,000 tons of agricultural products, said Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan Kurbon Hakimzoda, Trend reports via Tajik Media.

Hakimzoda noted that the value of Tajikistan's agricultural exports reached $54.3 million in 2022, which is $17.6 million more compared to 2021.

"More than 40 percent of total exports of agricultural products were vegetables - 76,600 tons, of which 66,600 tons were onions. Fruit exports accounted for 29 percent of the total volume or 54,500 tons," he said.

The Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan reported that Russia and Kazakhstan became the main markets for Tajik vegetables and fruits in 2022.

According to Hakimzoda, this year Tajikistan's Ministry of Agriculture will especially focus on growing cotton, potatoes, onions and carrots.

Agricultural production in Tajikistan amounted to 49.3 billion somoni ($4.8 billion) in 2022, which is an increase of 8 percent compared to 2021. Tajikistan's economy is largely dependent on agriculture, which employs about half of the country's total population. Tajikistan is famous for cultivating cotton, potatoes, grapes, etc.
