DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 25. Tajikistan recorded a decline in prices for non-food goods and paid services in June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, diesel fuel prices declined by 3.6 percent and prices for liquefied gas decreased by 3.1 percent in June of the current year.
During the first half of 2023, prices and tariffs for paid services provided to the population in Tajikistan decreased by 0.4 percent. This decline can be attributed mainly to the drop in prices for passenger transport services by 1.7 percent, with air transportation ticket prices falling by 2.8 percent.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the annual inflation rate in the country amounted to 2.4 percent in May of this year. Notably, the inflation rate in May 2023 marked the lowest level recorded since 2018, according to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).
The bank’s analysts said that the low inflation was influenced by factors such as the stability of the Tajik somoni exchange rate and the dynamics of international food and energy prices.
Meanwhile, the National Bank of Tajikistan reported an annual inflation rate of 3.4 percent in April 2023, 3.6 percent in March, 4.5 percent in February, and 4.3 percent in January.
