Kazakhstan leads in investments in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 11. Kazakhstan emerged as the leading investor in Tajikistan's economy, contributing a significant $83.5 million from January through March 2023, said Saadi Kodirzoda, Chairman of the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan, Trend reports.

According to him, behind Kazakhstan, the second-highest investor was China, contributing $59.6 million. During this period, Italy injected over $44 million, India invested $22.1 million, Russia contributed $20.9 million, and the UK, along with other foreign countries, provided $12.1 million.

Kodirzoda noted that foreign investors were primarily attracted to the mining, processing, and construction sectors of the country.

In 2022, Tajikistan attracted nearly $430 million in direct investments from countries like China, Turkey, Russia, and others.

Notably, 85 percent of these direct investments were directed towards the extraction of valuable minerals, 13 percent towards manufacturing and processing, and 1.7 percent towards construction and other sectors.
