EBRD primary focus on sustainable infrastructure projects in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 16. The EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) project portfolio in Tajikistan reached 487 million euros, allocated for 67 active projects as of July 31, Trend reports.

According to the EBRD, the bank contributed 431 million euros, or 89 percent, of the funding given to Tajikistan, with the majority going toward environmentally friendly infrastructure.

A further 30 million euros, or 6% of the portfolio, are allocated for investments in financial institutions, while 26 million euros, or 5% of the portfolio, are set aside for investments in business, commerce, and agriculture.

As of July 31, the total amount of EBRD investments in Tajikistan was 891 million euros.

The EBRD provided 131 million euros in funding for projects in Tajikistan in 2020, followed by 56 million euros in 2021 and 21 million euros in 2022.

Tajikistan joined the EBRD in 1992; since then, the bank has established itself as the primary investor in the country, fostering a longstanding cooperation. Its primary focus in Tajikistan lies in enhancing infrastructure, promoting regional connectivity, and creating employment opportunities.
