DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 7. Tajikistan is set to open 317 kilometers of international highways, in the next two years, Trend reports.
Tajikistan's Ministry of Transport also aims to build 32 bridges and 5 tunnels reaching 11.2 kilometers. Avalanche prevention procedures are also being developed.
Tajikistan will also continue to build the Rogun-Obigarm-Nurobod highway in 2024, as well as renovate roads such as Khujand-Kanibadam, Rushan-Khorog-Varshez village, a stretch of the Dangara-Bohtar road, and the Dushanbe-Kulma route.
The Guliston-Kulyab, Dangara-Guliston, Guliston-Farkhor, and Bohtar-Levakan-Dangara roads, as well as four road sections in the Sughd area, are all slated for rehabilitation.
Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon said while addressing the Supreme Assembly of the country at the end of 2023 that in the near future, Tajikistan's roads will be used as a transit-economic corridors along the China-Tajikistan-Afghanistan and China-Tajikistan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye-Europe, as well as Tajikistan-China-Pakistan routes.
