DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 9. The total assets of Tajikistan's credit financial organizations reached 37.679 billion somoni ($3.358 billion) as of December 31, 2023, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, this figure increased by 7.648 billion somoni ($700.227 million), or 25.5 percent, from the same period in 2022, owing primarily to growth in the credit portfolio balance, funds receivable from the National Bank of Tajikistan, and cash holdings.

The loan portfolio of credit financial organizations for the reporting period amounted to 17.844 billion somoni ($1.633 billion), which is an increase of 4.267 billion somoni ($390.673 million) or 31.4 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

According to the bank's data, this growth was mainly attributed to an increase in loans issued to individuals, the government sector, and the small and medium-sized enterprise sector.

Meanwhile, as of December 31, 2023, Tajikistan had 63 credit financial organizations, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
