DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 24. The inflation rate in Tajikistan amounted to 0.4 percent in January 2024, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the annual inflation for the first month of 2024 stood at 3.8 percent.
The rise in prices during January was mainly driven by an increase in the cost of services to the population by 1.8 percent, food products by 0.1 percent, and non-food items by 0.1 percent. Specifically, tariffs for electricity increased by 14.5 percent.
Regarding food products, prices in January mainly saw an increase: cucumbers by 6.5 percent, apples by 6.3 percent, pears by 5.3 percent, tomatoes by 4.1 percent, onions by 2.3 percent, grapes by 1.9 percent, beef by 0.6 percent, and rice by 0.3 percent.
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in prices for certain food products, including carrots by 10.8 percent, sugar by 2.1 percent, first-grade flour by 1.3 percent, sheep meat by 0.4 percent, cabbage by 0.2 percent, and chicken meat by 0.1 percent.
The country's inflation rate reached 3.8 percent, which is 0.4 percentage points lower than in 2022.
