Tajikistan, TRACECA discuss co-op in civil aviation

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 1. Discussions on cooperation for the development of the civil aviation industry between Tajikistan and the Transport Corridor Europe Caucasus Asia (TRACECA) program took place in Dushanbe, Trend reports.

According to the Civil Aviation Agency under the Government of Tajikistan, these matters were addressed during a meeting between the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA, Asset Assavbayev, and the Director of the Agency, Nazarzoda Habibullo.

During the meeting, Assavbayev briefed the Tajik side on TRACECA activities and its collaboration with Central Asian countries.

In turn, the head of the Civil Aviation Agency informed about industry plans and the expansion of flight geography.

The parties discussed the participation of Civil Aviation Agency specialists in seminars, conferences, and professional development courses aimed at enhancing their expertise.

The TRACECA program was established in 1993 based on the Brussels Declaration with the participation of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Moldova, Mongolia, and Ukraine later joined the program. In 2000, Türkiye, Romania, and Bulgaria joined, followed by Iran in 2009. In organizational terms, TRACECA functions as an intergovernmental commission.

TRACECA aims to foster the advancement of regional transport connectivity and ensure the effectiveness and reliability of Euro-Asian transport connections.
