Turkmen and Iranian Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have recently exchanged views over the phone regarding urgent issues of regional and international politics, maintaining mutual interest and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Turkmen and Iranian Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad have recently exchanged views over the phone regarding urgent issues of regional and international politics, maintaining mutual interest and prospects for bilateral cooperation.

The Turkmen government said on Friday that the interlocutors expressed their satisfaction for a possibility of discussing prospects for Turkmen-Iranian cooperation which are successfully developing in the best tradition of friendship and good neighborliness.

Information relates the presidents expressed growth in dynamics of a trade-economic partnership and humanitarian-cultural contacts. They called for further intensification of effective cooperation.

Moreover, both sides expressed their confidence that traditional cooperation between the two countries, built on principles of equality, mutual respect, and trust, will continue developing actively throughout all spheres.

The Iranian President congratulated his Turkmen counterpart with the 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence on October 27. He also expressed his best wishes to the Turkmen
people.

The Turkmen President called Iran a good and reliable friend to Turkmenistan as a neighboring state.

The sides are also negotiating the increase in energy supplies from Turkmenistan.
