Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov signed a decree appointing Orazdurdy Hodjanazarov as director to new "Ashgabat" TV channel.
The TV channel is accountable to the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography.
Opening of TV channel coincides with opening of modern television tower for digital broadcasting in Ashgabat the day before.
On Tuesday, Turkmen media outlets report that the "new capital television and radio center among similar facilities built in the last 30 years, is not only one of the largest but also one of the highest in the world on its location above sea level".
