President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich expressed confidence that his upcoming state visit to Ukraine will be an important step in the modern history of relations between the two countries and will give them new impetus, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.

It was noted that "quite natural victory of the Turkmen leader at the presidential elections held on a broad-based alternative, became another clear evidence of people's love and the highest confidence of Turkmen people."
Berdymukhamedov said the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Ukrainian relations have now become more dynamic and characterized by a high level of mutual respect, equality and openness.
"We see Ukraine as a sincere friend and reliable partner, a country holding the same views on many pressing issues of regional and global policy and attach great importance to the development of traditionally friendly bilateral relations," Berdymukhamedov said.
The two sides expressed confidence that the regular contacts at the highest intergovernmental level will directly contribute to strengthening the international dialogue, built on a strong foundation of long-standing friendship and mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation.
Twenty nine enterprises with the participation of Ukrainian capital have been registered in Turkmenistan, 63 projects worth nearly $2 billion and more than half a billion euros are implemented.
