Turkmenistan, China to strengthen ties

A Chinese delegation headed by the deputy director of the Department of the Eurasian countries of the International Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Qian Naychen is on visit to Ashgabat, Turkmen state news service said on Tuesday.
During the meeting at the Foreign Ministry the Chinese delegation stated that in recent years the Turkmen-Chinese strategic partnership has reached a qualitatively new level which has been replenished by grand joint projects not only of national, but also regional significance.
'This impressive list is headed by the 'Project of the Century' namely the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline commissioned in December 2009, which is now one of the longest in the world', the news service said.
During the meeting both sides exchanged views on the state and prospects for bilateral dialogue.
'Noting with satisfaction the growth and positivity of the Turkmen-Chinese contacts in the political, economic, scientific, technical, cultural and other fields, the meeting participants reaffirmed the mutual desire of both countries to further strengthen strategic partnership in all fields, including in issues of ensuring global energy security, stability and sustainable development', the statement said.
