Turkmen President, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on "Pardon of convicted people in honor of the holy night Gadyr Gijesi", the decree said.

Gadyr Gijesi is the holy night for the Islamic world, which falls to Ramadan.

Around 1,166 convicts are planned to be pardoned. They will be released from further sentence and an additional penalty in the form of living in a particular area.

According to the document, the decree was signed proceeding from the principles of charity, justice and humanism to further strengthen the unity of the Turkmen society and every family, and in honor of the holy night Gadyr Gijesi.

Turkmen TV on Saturday quoted the Turkmen leader that all pardoned must be released from prisons and celebrate the holiday with their families.

The law enforcement officers are charged with taking all the necessary measures.

"So, we give a chance to actively participate in the development of the country," the president said in his TV speech. The regional, district and city administrations, as well as other relevant officials were instructed to provide these individuals with jobs.
