The 55th meeting of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is planned to be held September 6-8, 2016, in Ashgabat in accordance with the committee's decision, said the Turkmen government in a message June 13.
Meanwhile, forums on agricultural statistics will also be held during this period in Ashgabat.
Preparations for the event were discussed by the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers with participation of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
President Berdimuhamedov said the strengthening of fruitful relations with CIS countries is one of the key directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy strategy.
As an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan builds its relations with CIS countries on the principles of respect and equal and mutually beneficial partnership, based on both the national and common interests, said the Turkmen president.
Ashgabat have repeatedly become the venue for representative forums of the CIS's different structures.
