No violations were recorded during the presidential election in Turkmenistan on Feb. 12, reads a statement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) observer mission.
According to the latest data from the Turkmen Central Election Commission (CEC), Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was re-elected for a third term with 97.69 percent of votes.
“The election took place calmly and with high voter turnout,” a member of the SCO mission said, adding that on the whole Turkmenistan ensured maximum publicity, openness, transparency and democracy of the electoral process.
