The issue of modernizing gas-fired power stations was touched upon at the Turkmen-Chinese scientific and innovation forum being held in Ashgabat on October 12, Turkmenistan’s Watan newspaper reported Oct. 12.

It is possible to generate electricity with minimal harm to the environment thanks to the projects of modernizing gas-fired power stations. The innovative technology of obtaining electricity has huge economic benefit.

Turkmenistan generated around 18.361 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January to September 2017. More than 2.8 billion kilowatt hours were supplied to foreign consumers during the reporting period, while the export growth rate was 103.2 percent.

Turkmenistan exports electricity to Iran, Afghanistan and Turkey. The prospects of electricity supply to the Caucasian countries, Central Asia and South Asia are being examined.
