BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Turkmenistan planning to establish calcite production, Trend reports via Business Turkmenistan news agency.
Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government during the online cabinet meeting submitted a proposal to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to establish a manufacturing facility for producing 50,000 tons of calcite per year in the Koytendag region of Lebap province. Earlier reports from the government said the initial plan was to produce only 500 tons of calcite a year.
Calcite will be used in the Turkmen industry to make high-value products such as paints, drywall, and other building materials.
The idea behind the launch of local calcite manufacturing is to get rid of imported components.
Back in 2020, Turkmenistan opened an enterprise for the manufacture of dry building mixes and drywall. The factory was envisaged to produce 4 million square meters of drywall and 5,000 tons of dry mixes per year, using calcite as the main raw material.
