BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 6. Turkmenistan and China intend to develop cooperation in the gas sector, in particular in the construction of a new line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline and the development of the Galkynysh gas field of Turkmenistan, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
The matters were discussed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov during his state visit to Beijing.
According to the signed statement, the parties noted the importance of cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the gas field, and also added that a scheme of comprehensive cooperation in this area is being formed. These are production, pipeline transportation, trade, financing and technical support.
Furthermore, the joint statement stressed that the parties will continue to fully implement the existing agreements, intensify cooperation in the gas industry, promote the process of negotiations on cooperation, accelerate the implementation of the second stage of industrial development of the Galkynysh gas field, construction of D line of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline and other major joint projects.
