BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 17. Cargo transportation through Turkmenistan along the International North–South Transport Corridor has significantly increased, Deputy Director for Forwarding of Russian Railways Logistics JSC Igor Nosyrev told Trend.

"The dynamics of cooperation between the Russian and Turkmen sides in the development of transportation along the International North–South Transport Corridor is quite high, which should contribute to increasing the capacity of the corridor, ensuring the regularity of transportation and attracting additional cargo traffic to this route," Nosyrev said.

According to him, if we compare the dynamics of traffic along this transport corridor with 2021, we can talk about a significant increase.

"According to the Government of the Russian Federation, about 700 tons of cargo were transported along this corridor for the whole of 2021, and for 11 months of 2022, 62,000 tons and about 220 containers have already been transported. If these intensive dynamics continue, then in the medium term we may well reach the planned targets of 17 trains per month and 5 million tons of annual cargo turnover," he added.
