BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. The volume of greenhouse tomato exports from Turkmenistan to foreign countries for 2022 has been published, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, during the reporting period, Turkmenistan exported 104,000 tons of greenhouse tomatoes, which is almost twice as much as in the same period of 2021.
Exports greenhouse tomatoes of the country go to such countries as Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan. A batch of Turkmen tomatoes was first shipped to Dubai (UAE) in 2021.
Most of the food products are now grown by private farms and business structures.
Furthermore, 712 hectares of greenhouse areas have been allocated for the cultivation of greenhouse vegetables in Turkmenistan, including tomatoes. Modern technologies and seeds of tall and high-yielding varieties are used in greenhouses for cultivation in the closed ground.
The tomato reproduction season lasts almost all year round, excluding the hot period when sanitary cleaning, plant change, and nutrient substrates are carried out in greenhouses, and ground vegetables come into force on the market, which fills the consumer basket until winter.
