BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. The Government of Turkmenistan is interested in continuing to ratify the Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), a source in the ILO told Trend.

It was noted that the country is interested in continuing to ratify the ILO labour inspection Convention No. 81 in industry and trade and No. 129 in agriculture.

"The International Labour Organization and the Government of Turkmenistan have agreed on a number of joint activities to be implemented in 2023. These activities include research and strengthening the information base as well as capacity building to the Government on a range of issues, including to strengthen the legislation governing forced labour, regulations on employment and recruitment in agriculture and strengthening labour inspection," the organization said.

The Turkmen Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev and a delegation of the International Labour Organization (ILO) headed by the headed by the Director of the Department of Labor Standards Korin Varga at the end of last year during which they discussed issues of Turkmenistan's accession to international conventions and multilateral agreements, including international ILO documents.

The International Labour Organization is a specialized UN agency dealing with the regulation of working relations, the expansion of decent employment opportunities, the strengthening of social protection and the development of dialogue on issues related to the sphere of work.
