BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. The total retail trade turnover of the Balkan region of Turkmenistan from January through March this year amounted to 2.6 billion Turkmen manats ($744.22 million), Trend reports.
According to official data, most of the retail turnover of the region was accounted for by private enterprises.
The growth rate of retail trade turnover in the first 4 months of this year in the Balkan region increased by 9 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.
The retail sector of the Balkan region is dominated by various shops, supermarkets, markets, and shopping centers, where a wide range of goods and services are offered.
Meanwhile, the government of Turkmenistan has been actively encouraging the development of local production in recent years in order to reduce dependence on imports and promote economic growth.
