BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Turkmenistan and the EU discussed matters related to strengthening economic cooperation, Trend reports.
These issues were discussed between the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Serdar Jorayev and the delegation for Central Asia and Mongolia of the European Parliament, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the meeting, the high potential for the development of cooperation in the field of high-tech production, digitalization and Turkmenistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) was noted.
Jorayev called the EU one of the country's strategic partners and noted successful holding of the 21st meeting of the Turkmenistan-EU joint committee in November 2022.
He noted that Turkmenistan is focused on the development of hydrogen energy, in connection with which there is a potential for establishing cooperation in this direction, and also added that in Turkmenistan, as in the region as a whole, there are good conditions for establishing high-tech industries together with potential European partners.
In turn, Head of the delegation, MEP Tomáš Zdechovský stressed the interest of the European Parliament in cooperation in the energy sector. Particular emphasis was placed on the desire of European companies to invest in the development of "green" technologies in Central Asia.
