BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 25. Farms in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan produced about 57,100 tons of meat (in live weight) from January through May this year, Trend reports.
According to official data, during the reporting period, farms in the region also produced 227,200 tons of milk and 98.8 million eggs.
In general, the Lebap region currently contains about 3 million sheep and goats, 553,300 cattle, 4.15 million poultry and 5,900 camels.
At the moment, Turkmenistan is doing a lot of work on the development of animal husbandry, increasing the number of livestock, manufacturing meat and dairy products, and strengthening the feed base of the industry. The improvement of local livestock enterprises continues.
Most of the livestock production accounts for the private sector of Turkmenistan.
