ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 25. Turkmenistan's Lebap region notes an increase in the harvest of vegetables and fruits while reducing prices this year, Trend reports.

According to official data, farmers in the region have harvested 95,700 tons of potatoes, 28,900 tons of fruits and 76,500 tons of other types of vegetables this year, which is much higher than in 2022.

Thus, an increase in the harvest led to a decrease in prices for a number of products in retail outlets in the region.

Tomatoes have fallen in price this year in the Lebap region by 21.5 percent, cucumbers — by 10 percent, onions — by 9.7 percent, beets — by 9.2 percent, cabbage — by 8 percent, potatoes — by 2.1 percent.

Furthermore, a decrease in prices was recorded even for goods that had not previously been subjected to market fluctuations, including sunflower oil (21 percent), buckwheat (6 percent), high-quality flour (4.6 percent).

The Lebap region of Turkmenistan has been actively developing its agriculture over the past decades, striving to increase productivity, ensure food security in the region and improve the living conditions of the rural population. The region has a favorable climate and fertile soils, which provides good opportunities for the development of agriculture.
